As an RN in the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations across numerous units, departments and/or locations. You will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to refine your skills. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00AM - 7:30PM. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Deliver patient care utilizing the case management principles, the nursing process and knowledge from various healthcare disciplines.
• Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
• Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care and serve as a patient advocate.
• Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
• Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications and maintain applicable certification/licensure. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • One year of acute care nursing experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

      • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
      • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
      • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
      • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
      • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
      • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
