As part of our Akron General Hospital family of caregivers, you help adult, neonate and adolescent patients experience healthcare at its finest.A caregiver in this position works varying shifts. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Deliver patient care utilizing the case management principles, the nursing process and knowledge from various healthcare disciplines.
• Manage assigned personnel and collaborate with members of other healthcare disciplines.
• Promote and demonstrate nursing caring standards and guest relations standards.
• Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
• Involve patients and families in developing plans of care, coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care and serving as a patient advocate.
• Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document.
• Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
• Delegate tasks / assignments and serve as a resource person.
• Pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification / licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
• Be involved in professional development and review processes, adhere to values/guest service standards and guiding principles, complete mandatory education and training and maintain BLS and ACLS certifications.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One year of acute care nursing experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if assigned to designated units where required
  • Completed Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics within six months of hirePreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

      • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
      • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
      • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
      • Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
      • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
      • Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
