comprehensive programs in the world for the evaluation and medical
and surgical treatment of epilepsy. As part of our Akron General
Hospital family of caregivers, you help adult, neonate and
adolescent patients experience healthcare at its finest.A caregiver
in this position works varying shifts. A caregiver who excels in
this role will:
- Deliver patient care utilizing the case management principles,
the nursing process and knowledge from various healthcare
disciplines.
- Manage assigned personnel and collaborate with members of other
healthcare disciplines.
- Promote and demonstrate nursing caring standards and guest
relations standards.
- Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient
condition and respond appropriately.
- Involve patients and families in developing plans of care,
coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care and serving as a
patient advocate.
- Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and
document.
- Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of
patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and
participate in the quality improvement process.
- Delegate tasks / assignments and serve as a resource
person.
- Pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain
applicable certification / licensure and obtain any required
certifications specific to the unit.
- Be involved in professional development and review processes,
adhere to values/guest service standards and guiding principles,
complete mandatory education and training and maintain BLS and ACLS
certifications.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future
caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- One year of acute care nursing experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if assigned
to designated units where required
- Completed Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the
American Academy of Pediatrics within six months of hirePreferred

- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting
patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand
coordination
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
- Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally,
and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than
negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move
objects.
- Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light
